News: Arran Launches 26yo “Ewan’s Cut” for CHAS

Celebrity backed or endorsed whiskies are becoming more and more common place within the market. I’m sure there are always good intentions BUT when the main reason behind the endorsement is for a charitable purpose, then I’m right behind it!

This week the Isle of Arran distillers have announced a collaboration with Ewan McGregor for the very limited release of “Ewan’s Cut” – a 26yo single malt scotch whisky. All 150 bottles of it are going on auction via The Whisky Auctioneer later this month, with all proceeds going to the charity: Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

What’s more is that the auction house are waiving their commission so that the maximum amount of money can go to the charity.

Each bottle will each feature a “wan-of-a-kind” label [ed: I like what they did there!] and have all come from Ewan McGregor’s private cask which he claimed at the launch of the Arran Malt back in 1998.

The full press release is available here: Introducing… Ewan’s Cut!

Disclaimer: I’m posting this as it is genuinely interesting to me, and is a distillery whose whiskies I’ve been enjoying. It is not a promotion and no samples or anything have been sent across (as much as I’d love to try this one!) – I just wanted to share their news! Whisky being used for good! More details are available from the link in the article above.
