Joining up to the Highland Park newsletter gets you into the “Inner Circle” and that means you get updates from time to time on new releases and promotions etc.
What I was surprised to receive this week was a notice that those famous gates of theirs have closed for the remainder of 2024! This is to make way for refurbishments to the site with a green agenda:
Our 226 year-old distillery has officially closed until the end of the year for an exciting, environmental upgrade which will reduce our direct carbon emissions by 20%.
In the meantime, we still have plenty of stories to tell and whisky to share. We’ve taken this opportunity to create two new experiences for you to enjoy at our Highland Park Kirkwall Store, right in the heart of Kirkwall. That’s not just the gift shop at the distillery then but the whole site and production. Lots of lovely stock maturing away there though. Hopefully the updates do not take away from the charm of the site, but can enhance their operation and visitor experience. There is still plenty of their wares available at the gift shop in Kirkwall and online to get your Highland Park fix.
