Earlier this year we shared Highland Park’s news that the distillery was having to shut down for some time (see Highland Park Closes Its Gates). Whilst the site is being refurbished the devil makes work for idle hands…
Today the distillery has launched its brand new look for its fire range releases.

Gone are the ornate Viking-themed embossments in favour of a sleeker and very 2024 design. This is not a total overhaul though and enough their DNA is still visible as the bottles are going to keep the same unique shape and have the Norse-stylised H. Along with the “More Orkney Than Ever” tagline the bottles have been embossed with a prominent “Product Of Orkney” statement.

One of the key characteristics that the distillery has always embraced is the heathery peat influence that is embodied in their barley. The new branding and colourings here actually have flecks of heather colouring within the otherwise bold labels. The boxes are also putting the tasting notes front and centre on the packaging, rather than being hidden at the back of the box beneath the Viking lore diatribe.
The recipes and liquid inside is said to be the same as before but now the Viking Honour 12 Years Old is simply the 12 Year Old along with the “Spicy & Well-Rounded” moniker. The 15 Year Old expression may not be displaying its Viking Heart, but notes that its profile is still “Complex & Rich”. The Viking Pride has been subsided for the 18 Year Old in favour of its “Full-Bodied & Refined” overview.
All in all a more sophisticated look has been adopted with a very New York or high-end hotel look for the range.
