Not a press release for once – just me sharing some news from The English Whisky Company.
The EWC have just launched a new expression! Released in their decanter style bottles and boasting one of their most heavily sherried releases to date, they have simply called it “The Sherry Hogshead”. There is no indication as to the age of the contents but based on our experience of their early Chapter bottlings and their more recent no-age-statement expressions, this sizes up to be a tasty release.
Click here to see our notes on EWC’s previous releases – though I’d draw your attention to the Chapter 16 release in particular as it was the last peated sherry cask release that we had tried (see notes here) and, from what we can recall, their combination of peat and sherry cask maturation was the jewel in the crown of the EWC releases at the time.
The Sherry Hogshead promises to be a limited release of 1,800 bottles and as ever the details of the expression and their actual stock count of bottles remaining can be found on the EWC’s website here.
