News: The Oldest English Single Malt Whisky Released!

Yesterday, the English Whisky Company announced the release of their oldest whisky to date, and it’s one that goes back to the founders’ casks!

Coming in at 16 years old, the Founders’ Private Cellar release is a single cask release. What makes this more enticing is that the cask in question is a port cask and it has heralded just 232 bottles.

Captured directly at the cask’s strength of 54.1% ABV, this is available now for £295 per bottle. A hefty sum, but a piece of history nonetheless.

From the official press release:

Our Founders’ Private Cellar is an incredibly rare release of some of our most individualistic casks. I am incredibly proud each time we release a cask from the Cellar, which was first started by my father. This single malt whisky was distilled in early August 2007 and was one of the first port casks we ever filled. 16 years later, the whisky is delightful, with a hint of smoke and a wonderful taste of juicy dark fruits, ginger biscuits and a lovely oily texture creating a good long finish.
